types of travelers

Since traveling around the world is a little bit limited right now, you might not be able to satisfy your thirst for adventure. But don’t worry, while you might be forced to stay home right now, it’ll give you plenty of time to plan your next adventure and figure out what type of trips fit you the best. If you find it hard to put your travel style into a category by yourself, here’s a little guide that will help you figure out what kind of traveler you are.

The collector

Do you always hit thrift shops and flea markets on your trips? Do you need to bring an entire empty suitcase for all the different souvenirs and knick-knacks you’re planning to bring home from your adventure? Then you’re a collector—a gatherer of exotic, interesting and exceptional. Or maybe you only care to collect carefully-curated experiences, which also counts. If you plan your trip perfectly just to release lanterns in Yi Peng Festival or hike for days to see the view from the top of Machu Picchu, you’re a classic experience collector and you will not hesitate to mention your adventures in conversation.

The X-sport fanatic

Are you willing to travel to the other side of the world just to have your feet tied to a rubber rope and jump of the tallest bridge you can find? Then you’re a classic adrenaline junky traveler who’s always searching for unique, adrenaline-inducing activities. While some x-sport travelers love to climb rocks, dive with sharks and jump out of an airplane, some prefer different types of extreme activities like exploring dodgy dive bars or trying out suspicious food. If you want to have an adrenaline-fueled trip, try downhill biking in Bolivia, diving in Australia or ice climbing in Canada.

The hunter

If you’re traveling for hunting, you’re a special kind of traveler, mostly due to your travel gear and preparedness to spend your entire trip in nature without too much comfort. To make your trip to your destination safe and comfortable, you need to have a quality portable gun safe, depending on the type of weapon you’re carrying. Safety always comes first, so secure your rifles and handguns before you embark, both those that travel with you and those that stay at home. Some of the destinations hunters choose are usually British Colombia, Argentina, and Tanzania.

The health-chaser

Do you travel to find yourself? Is your goal to improve your habits, get healthier and more mentally stable thanks to your many diverse travel experiences? Then you’re a Zen-chaser or self-improver. What you’re doing is very admirable, since you need to be up early, eat well, meditate, explore and make the most out of your trip with glee. What you’re doing requires a lot of stamina and some high-quality shoes. Iceland’s peacefulness, Tanzania’s weather and Thai food will provide you with all the health benefits you can imagine, so make sure to put these destinations on your travel list.

The pilgrim

Zen is your main goal and spirituality is what you crave and seek. You love to follow trails for those who came before you, visit shrines and various significant buildings. And remember, there are different kinds of shrines—not all are religious. While many devoted pilgrims travel thousands of miles to meditate on the banks of the River Ganges, some people spend days visiting filming locations of the Harry Potter series. Today, certain shopping streets also attract a lot of “pilgrims” ready to spend their money.

The photographer

If you have a perfectly-collected album with photos that capture all highlights and interesting details you’ve seen on your travels, you’re a photographer traveler. You travel to capture nature, buildings and people and share beautiful moments and sights with your many Instagram followers. If you’re looking for amazing photos, you have a lot of destinations to choose from, but Chile, Morocco, the Alps and Oceania are very camera-friendly.

The budget traveler

You’re smart, thrifty and not scared for a huge backpack. You will explore amazing destinations, but also be forced to sleep in some pretty weird places—this life is not for everyone. One is for sure, most backpackers and other extremely-thrifty travelers always come back home with a lot of new experiences to brag about.

Which type of traveler are you? No matter where you fall on this list, you’re probably impatient to hit the road and see, experience and try out many new things this wonderful world has to offer!
