chrome

Chrome is running at unbelievable speeds. Every time you think that you’ve seen the best of Google Chrome; it springs upon you another big surprise with its latest update. The Chrome OS 70 to is full of surprises and promises of making the experience of using Chrome even better.

The latest in the development scene is two of its most prominent changes:

  1. The Floating Keyboard
  2. The App Shortcuts

Let us take a look at what Chrome OS 70 each feature means

The Floating Keyboard

The Floating Keyboard is a new concept that Google is testing out. This is a feature that is supposed to help in moving the keyboard on the screen. Using a small handle to anyplace over the screen. This is a very interesting feature because it increases the scope of work. That a user can do using a single hand.

This is quite a flexible option based on how the user wants to make use of the keyboard. They can either use the keyboard where it is. Or they can put it where they find it most convenient. If for instance, the user moves the keyboard to somewhere and then wants to exit the “floating mode” they can drag the handle and pull it back where it was.

The latest version of chrome is still in its beta phase of testing this keyboard. If people have already gotten the Gboard option in their phones, they will probably be able to use it easily for a few minutes before it stops on its own accord.

We are yet to see when it becomes a full-fledged feature for the Chrome OS 70 but for now, this seems just fine. As more and more people are using it, we can assume that many glitches too may be reported which will be corrected for the final product.

The App Shortcuts

These shortcuts have already been available in the development channel some three months back, but the latest Chrome OS 70 has now made them available for real. This shortcut basically is something similar to the iPhone’s 3D touch.

Basically, a right click or a tap on the icon of the app with 2 fingers will allow the user to see the available shortcuts. However, the sad thing about this update is that there’s a difference in usability as compared to Android.

In Android phones basically can pin these shortcuts, however, Chrome OS 70 will not allow you to pin these shortcuts as a separate launcher entry. But there are definitely more pros than cons when it comes to this feature.

On the whole, Chrome OS 70 is a very progressive Operating System that has a lot of great features and a whole lot of benefits for the users. How good or how bad the response is of the general public is a matter yet to be thought about.

Chrome has made the entire concept of using the internet more fun, easy and definitely new. Its fast updates, new versions, and interesting concepts are certainly something that keeps people always on the lookout for more.

Since User Interface is one of their main areas of focus. The latest update is believed to have the best UI so far. Although it looks more after Android, whatever helps the customer is the best thing for the company to involve themselves in.
