smartphone industry

It was September 2019, when Samsung launched its first foldable phone. Android users were roused by its iconic foldable elegance. Despite its astonishing features, it does come with many imperfections:

  • Short battery timings
  • Non- resistant to dust and water
  • Display along with Crease
  • Expensive
  • Screen durability issues
  • Small front display

Again in February 2020, Samsung Electronics launched its second foldable Android phone named “Samsung Galaxy Z Flip”. A lot of improvements over the foldable phone are reflecting in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone. This phone finally got over the crease problem which was distracting our clients. Let’s examine what the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series has brought for us:

No creak-tweak:

The best thing about this device is that it doesn’t make a creaking sound and feels more solid-feeling like a hinge. Its folding and unfolding action is much smoother than its first model.

Display:

Samsung’s so-called “Ultra-Thin Glass” is 30 microns in size, in the order of human hair very small. There is a preview of the Glass Z Flip lid. The OLED display is only 1.1 inches and shows basic details such as time, notifications, and media controls. The front display can be used as a small display, in case you want to take selfies with the phone turned off. Having trouble with the display? Take it over to any cell phone repair shop.

Fits into a pocket:

Z-flip is convenient for those users who faced instances when they lost their phone somewhere on the table, in the restaurants, or the library. It fits into the pocket much deeper than anyone can expect. Most of the customer’s reviews gave us the idea that how much this phone is beneficial for their parents who had lost their phone several times or couldn’t place it comfortably.

The phone screen doesn’t seem to be durable at all:

Although it presents an excellent screen to body ratio. As its screen is made up of Ultra-Thin glass which is about 30 microns thick. Samsung Electronics has given protection to this screen with a plastic layer. The question arises is the screen is still durable? Doesn’t dust or finger strikes cause any catastrophic effects?

Here are some expert review regarding the Samsung Z-Flip device:

  • “The screen is fairly well protected when closed, but it’s possible to get grit in between the two halves while pushing hard with your fingernail could damage it”

Battery life:

Samsung Galaxy Z-Flip has a dual battery system with a maximum charge of 15W. This device is enabled with both charging systems i.e. either through charger or wireless system. The upper half of the phone has a 930 mAh battery whereas the lower half is powered up to a 2,370 mAh pack.

Performance:

Z-Flip has Snapdragon 855+ – the processing package inside the Galaxy Z Flip is extraordinary and can give a leading performance.

What it could mean for the Smartphone Industry?

Although Samsung foldable series are remarkable innovations and are striking to hit the market. Samsung z-flip has shown better improvements than the last version but to reach the mainstream still, expectations are high to do some physical and phone hardware. Although Samsung has already taken off its flight for foldable mobile let’s see which brand is going to join it.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is definitely a ground breaker in the mobile industry. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments.
