types of travel

“Travelling is not something you’re good at. It’s something you do. Like breathing.” – Gayle Foreman

Humans have the urge to travel to explore and see the world from their own perspective. Each one of us is a unique traveller in our way. Whether we travel for a business meet or to pursue higher studies in a foreign land, we wander to different places with the hope of discovering new places, trying new cuisines, and making new acquaintances.

Why Should You Travel More Often?

Travelling is necessary to explore the beauty of this world, even if it’s a short trip to your neighbouring state. It can be of more help than you realise.

  • Unlike your textbooks and college coursework, travelling teaches you about the world and those staying in it. You get to meet new people, learn about new cultures and see life with a fresh eye.
  • When you travel, you are investing in learning about different cultures present in your own country. It helps you see your country from a new perspective.
  • Travelling helps you learn about yourself – how you react to situations, your knowledge, social skills, and more.
  • Another significant advantage of travelling is that you get to make new memories and experiences that you may cherish for life.
  • By travelling, you can become more confident, knowledgeable, independent, and open-minded when you live through different situations with people from different cultures.
  • Lastly, travelling exposes you to the hardships of others and makes you humble. During the trip, you learn from other’s experiences and feel motivated to have a positive outlook on life.

5 Different Types Of Travel

When we talk about travelling, each one of us has a unique definition in mind. For some, a perfect trip is sipping on a chilled mojito, basking in the sun by the pool in a five-star resort, while others love backpacking to places they’ve never been to.

Many people have asked me what type of traveler I am. Honestly, I enjoy different travel types all the time – be it weekend travel or business travel. Below I have rounded up five different travel types that you must try at least once.

  1. Solo travel

Of late, solo travel has become quite a trend among travellers across the world. There’s no need to consult with anyone or wait for everyone’s schedule to match with yours. You can visit any obscure place you like, as you want, and when you like.

If you are yet to go on a solo trip, well, there’s no better time than now. Choose your destination, pack your bags, and set off on a solo trip. But if you are unsure about visiting a new place alone, you can join any solo trip groups for a unique experience.

  1. Business travel

Unlike other travel types, a business trip is when you travel for work purposes to different places. While you have to sit and plan for your leisure trip, the planning is often instantaneous for a business trip.

You have to carry a professional outfit and other necessary items for the meetings. Although the purpose of business travel varies by people, sometimes people turn business travels into leisure trips when they travel with family after they are done with the official commitments.

  1. Family travel

Family travel is the most common type of trip where the travellers look forward to spending more quality time together. You don’t have to sacrifice the adventurous part of you just because you are now a family man/woman.

You can travel with your family to new places and create new memories together as a close-knit group. From planning to execution, travelling can help you understand what you are looking to learn about yourself and your family from the trip.

  1. Group travel

Travelling with a group of individuals with a similar mindset can be an experience of a lifetime. It can be of a group of 20-year-olds ready to party and see the world or 70-year-olds wanting to visit historical places with picturesque sites.

Irrespective of your interests – be it winemaking, fishing, or studying medieval art, you can find groups for everything under the sun. When you join groups of similar interests, the chances are that you will make friends with people with similar interests, enhance your knowledge, and enjoy your travel time.

  1. Travel with friends

Who doesn’t love to go on a trip with friends? We all do. When we travel with our close friends, we make priceless, golden memories that we cherish for life.

Travelling together to a new place allows you to explore and discover new things together. You can hone your teamwork skills and work together to overcome unforeseen challenges. Embarking on a group trip with your best friends can strengthen your trust and take your relationship to a new level.

Conclusion

Travelling is necessary to find yourself and reconnect with the world. Hence, take time out from your busy schedule and disconnect from the hum drums of the world and give time to explore and expand your knowledge. Even if it’s just a weekend trip, make sure you enjoy it and create the most precious memories for life.
