travel packing list

So you’re a digital nomad on the go. Lucky you!

If you’re new to traveling while working (and even if you aren’t), it’s essential to pack the right things.

The last thing you want is to end up in a fun location without your webcam! (Plus, you wouldn’t be able to show off your fancy Airbnb.)

Depending on the client, it’s also hard to attend a meeting when they expect to “see you” during the talk.

To make traveling go smoothly, we’ve come up with the perfect packing list. That way, you’ll have everything you need and then some as you travel.

Check out what you should have as you hit the road, laptop, and travel gear in toe!

1. The Right Equipment

As we briefly covered, it’s challenging to work without a computer, webcam, and headset. Having the right equipment makes working on the go possible, so make sure you have it with you at all times.

It is wise to have backup equipment as well in case something gets misplaced. Or, heaven forbid, something should get stolen.

Even though you’ll be traveling, clients expect you to be able to work. If you have the working essentials, you won’t have to worry about running into any hitches.

2. A Backpack

It’s in your best interest to pack light, which means you should stick to a few backpacks. One example is an Osprey travel backpack, which makes it easy to carry the essentials.

In a backpack, you should have enough room to carry the essentials. A laptop, maps, books, clothing, and toilet are all items you should pack.

Look for one that also comes with a detachable day pack. That way, it’ll be easy to lighten your load and go exploring for the day in a new location.

It’ll take some practice packing it and figuring out the right load. But after you get the hang of it, you’ll have a great system of fitting what you need during your travels.

3. Quick-Dry Towel

Regular towels can take forever to dry, and when you’re traveling, you don’t want to be stuck with a damp towel.

That’s why a quick-dry towel will become your new best friend. It still will take time for the towel to dry. But as the name says, it will dry a lot quicker than a standard towel.

This type of fast-drying towel is ideal to have on the beach. And if it’s big enough, you can use it to take a shower.

Get one and add it to your backpack stat!

4. Travel Books and Maps

Even if you’re direction savvy, it doesn’t hurt to have a few travel books and maps. Books will give you ideas on where to go, and maps will provide details on each location.

Select books that aren’t that bulky because it’s not fun to be weighed down by them. It’s best to have a reader where you can read travel books, instead.

5. Universal Adaptor

It’s hard to charge your smartphone, laptop, and other accessories if you don’t have the right adaptor.

That’s why you should invest in a universal adaptor so you won’t run into any issues.

Converting electrical currents is essential. The reason why it’s so important is that you don’t want to damage your equipment.

Replacing your laptop, for example, would be a huge inconvenience. Not to mention, it’d also be very expensive.

Plus, it’ll be a little hard to get stuff done without a laptop and other electronics. So make sure you have a universal adapter in your suitcase and backpack!

In Conclusion

In this article, we’ve only included a few essentials, but there are many more to include in your travels.

Now, you don’t want to include everything but the kitchen sink. There’s nothing worse than carrying a heavy backpack that damages your back.

But you do want to make sure you packed what you need to make traveling comfortable.

Here are a few more items you should consider bringing:

  • Your wallet, ID, passport, and paperwork
  • Toiletries
  • WiFi hotspot device
  • External power device
  • Appropriate footwear
  • Headlamp
  • GoPro
  • A variety of clothing

Your life of being a digital nomad is, no doubt, a blast. There’s nothing like exploring the world while doing what you love.

Packing the right belongings will make life as a nomad comfortable and convenient. You’ll be ready to work and go wherever you are!
