You’ll Spend This Much of Your Life Waiting at Red Lights

According to research, many signals in America who goes to work daily on the vehicle. Unfortunately, there some things that irritate you more than getting stuck at a red light. The perfect amount of time for the light to remain red is from 1 min to 1 min and 30 seconds. This means that the city driver and passengers would waste an average of 1 min and 25 seconds wait at each red light. If we calculate the time which approximately 20% of all driving time spent at red lights. If we calculate the American’s average time which wastes more than 17,600 minutes each year. That’s 3520 minutes or 58.6 hours spent at the red-light whole year. In other words, you spent much of your time while waiting for red lights.

Ever you pulled up to a traffic light and waited? While there is no any other traffic near to you. The traffic signal changes after 3 minutes later and go ahead. A driver came to a signal light some years ago at late night and traveling to in the Midwest. That is useless to stop there because there is nothing to wait for. A single car with no purpose waiting for. There were no cars near around. Then he went forward and did not stop at the traffic light again.

Many persons consume their time shopping, playing games, and other bad habits which are not useful for health and from another perspective. Many hackers and other designers that work for others wasting their time to make non-profitable work and communicate with others to solve a problem, while the work behind left the same.

  1. Slow Breathing and Counting:

One of the simplest things you can do at a red light is to just emotionally clear your head and do about slow breathing. It’s a simple and quickest method to relax from the driving task and the day from the bullshit for some seconds. It’s all about the slow breathing and focusing your kindness on the feelings of the air graceful and out of the nose. 

Slowly inhale from about 5 to 8 seconds, pause then exhale with a countdown of the same amount. Repeat this method until the green light turns on. 

  1. Box Pattern Breathing:

This is a slight difference from the simple breathing choice. Besides the short silence while breathing. While breathing from the box breathing holds your breath for a few seconds before exhaling. Some points are necessary to follow.

  1. Slowly inhale and count for about 5 seconds.
  2. Hold your breath for 5 seconds.
  3. Slowly exhale and count down from 5 to 0.
  4. Hold your empty lungs for 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat this method.
  6. Out Loud Appreciation:

It has been proved that over and over that stating appreciation for things in your life positively impacts your mood and well-being. When you openly and honestly say that write down things that you are wonderful for, your body releases all sorts of feel-good hormones, reduces cortisol levels, slows down heart rate, lowers blood pressure, etc. 

Made these things real and reliable. Don’t just go through the gestures. You would not get any advantage from shirking on this. 


The conclusion is that many signal lights came while driving in the United States of America. The people that go to the office and other jobs, have to face these signals. They need to be stopped for more than one minute. So, they need to stop on average 75 seconds. Many people are scrolling their phones and attending calls in the meantime. It seems that everyone has rapid to complete their work, or reached to the destination earlier and earlier.
