play games

If you have to use zoom for an online class or to hold a virtual party, chances are you’d want to keep things interesting. There are fun games that you can play on zoom to keep everyone entertained.

It’s hard enough to adjust from our normal brick and mortar learning and working style to virtual learning and Zoom meetings.

Thankfully we have Zoom, which has made the current lockdown situation around the world more bearable.

In this article, I have put together fun games that you can play on Zoom with your students, friends, family, or colleagues.

Fun Games to Play on Zoom with Students

When teaching a group of students virtually on Zoom, there are fun games you can play online with them to keep them attentive, excited, and also to test their knowledge.

1. The 5 Seconds Rule Game.

Rule Game

This is a very fun game you can play on zoom that’ll keep all your students engaged.

In this game, every participant gets 5 seconds to mention 3 things that fall into a particular category. This game is also a fantastic way to teach your students.

For example, you can ask students to name 3 countries that start with the letter S, this game can help with improving thinking ability.

You can get your students to download the 5 Seconds Guess Game app on their phones, or create an account on Quizlet.

2. Zoom Scavenger Hunt

We all know sitting in front of a computer screen for a long time is not ideal for anyone, especially young children. Therefore, you can give them a screen break and help them keep learning by sending them on a Zoom scavenger hunt.

To play this fun game, write a list of things that most families will have in their homes and set a time limit for them to find and bring the item to the Zoom virtual class.

You could make the Scavenger Hunt related to their curriculum, for example, you could ask them to find an object with a rectangular shape.

3. Fun Game to Play on Zoom–Kahoot

Kahoot is my ultimate favourite online game. It is a free game-based learning platform. You can access the games via a web browser or by downloading the app.

To organize this game for your students, you need to create your own Kahoot, get a Game PIN, ask your students to visit Kahoot web page, and enter the Game PIN which you will need to give them.

You can use this game to check how much your students are grasping the information you’ve shared by setting multiple-choice quizzes.

Fun Games to Play on Zoom with Friends and Family.

1. Bingo

Online Bingo is a great game you can play when on a zoom call with your friends and family. You can also add as many players as you like as long as you remember to share the password with all of them so they can log into the game.

Virtual Bingo is very easy to set up. You can set up an account with My Free Bingo Cards in less than two minutes.

2. Scattergories

Scattergories is an online game that all ages can take part in and enjoy. It’s very easy to play, it’s just like the 5 seconds rule game. You’ll need to create your game by choosing a topic, then send each zoom participant a link to the game.

To play the game, you get 60 seconds to come up with a word that belongs to each category. The game is fun and fast, and it’s truly enjoyable.

3. Noun Zoom Game–Place, Name, Animal, and Thing

Noun Zoom

Any age can play this zoom game. It’s also a “fastest fingers game”. To play, you need to pick a letter and each zoom participant has to write in the chat section of Zoom a name, place, animal, and thing that starts with that letter.

The first person to comment with the right answer with no typographical error wins the game.

4. Guess Who

Guess Who

Guess Who is a game that every member of your family can enjoy, it’s fun for all ages and anyone can play this game.

All you need to do is to create two groups to make it more competitive. Each group will assign a character and make the other group guess who they are. To make it more fun, each question asked should have a definitive answer.

Don’t forget you can also record the Zoom meeting, as these are memories I’m pretty sure you’d want to cherish for a long time.
