How to Create a Great Social Media Platform for Your Biz

Today, each company has a social media page. Without social media, businesses, small and large, struggle to target and engage their audience. The most leveraged social media platforms are Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, etc. Unless you design the best social media platform for your business, you might not be able to make profits.

Here is how to create a great social media platform for your biz

1. Use The Right Image Sizes

Each social media platform has recommended file dimensions for designing business pages and other profiles. The dimensions vary for profile pictures, social media cover images, and the background.

For Facebook, your profile picture must measure 180×180, and the cover photo should measure 852 x 315. Google+ requires that you use a cover photo of 2120 x 1192 and a profile picture of 800 x 800. Suppose you decide to use Twitter, then your cover photo will have to measure 1252 x 626, background image 1600 x 1200, while the profile image should measure 73 x 73.

If you have an image that you want to use and it doesn’t have the recommended dimensions, you can always rework it.

2. Your Designs Should be Visually Consistent

If you already have clients, they want to establish a robust brand identity via social media. Therefore, you are supposed to ensure that your brand maintains a certain visual pattern across all social media platforms. The images you choose to use should also have a very close relationship with the products and services your business provides.

When creating visual content, be sure to take your time. Understand the nature of your brand and the niche on which it is focused. Use that to create visual content that will remind clients of your brand each time they engage with your social media accounts.

3. Your Design Must Abide By The Rules

Even if you have killer design skills, each social media platform has rules that you must abide by. Before you begin designing a company page on any platform, it is important to go through the terms and conditions put in place. Note that your page will be terminated if you don’t play by the rules.

Facebook, being one of the most lenient social media accounts, has fair terms of use. You can find them by searching the internet. There are also Twitter terms of service, YouTube community guidelines, LinkedIn user agreement, etc. Most of these rules are not meant to scare you away but to ensure proper and safe operation for everyone.

4. Profile Picture to Match the Cover Image

Some clients are so savvy that they will know when you make mistakes when choosing profile and cover images for your social media pages. For instance, your profile picture should not overlap the cover page and hide important content you are trying to share with the audience. To ensure easy viewing, the primary content of the cover image should be placed to the right as opposed to the left.

For a professional look, your profile picture and the banner should speak about the same thing. If you don’t know how to make this happen, it is okay to ask a designer to help you with the creation of a profile picture and cover image.

5. Share Content Regularly

Whether you are a small or established business, the chances are that you have a website. Besides using social media monitoring services, you need to share relevant content with your audience. This comes in handy when you want to sell your company and let potential buyers that you exist.

Each time you publish content on your website, share the same link on your social media and see how your clients interact with it. Make your content relevant to what your customers are looking for, and highlight why your business is more important than the competitors.

Closing Thoughts

In case you are going to use social media to engage your clients, you must be subtle about it. Use the right image dimensions, and place your images strategically. Some customers might try to reach you via social media platforms, so you should be there to answer all their queries. If you give them the best experience, they will develop trust in your business.
