Suitable Pore Size

Wettability of the Membrane

It is necessary to evaluate whether the membrane is unaffectedly hydrophilic or hydrophobic. Hydrophilic filters block some molecules and allow water to reach the membrane. Filters made of polyethersulfone (PES), nylon, Cellulose Acetate (CA), Regenerated Cellulose (RC), Anopore, Glass Fiber, and polypropylene are hydrophilic.

Sometimes hydrophilic filters are not sufficient to filter some additional acidic selections. In that matter, hydrophobic filters are prewetted during the presentation procedure to make them hydrophilic. Hydrophilic Polytetrafluoroethylene and Hydrophilic PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) are hydrophobic filters transformed into hydrophilic filters.

Clean or Non-Clean Filters

If a solution with pure water is required, sterile syringe filters are selected. Non-sterile filters can be used for samples to be filtered besides.

Association Classification

Generally, syringe filters obtain with female Luer lock inlets and a male Luer slip platform. And to receive protected and tight sealing, filters can be designed with double Luer lock connections that are a female Luer lock inlet and a male Luer lock opening.
