Did Someone Say, 'Wedding?'

Let’s be honest guys, we live pretty boring lives. Whether you’re a student or an employee, we’re all stuck in a rut. We work nine to five, we have lunch breaks, assignments and if we’re lucky, we get a day off in between. Is this really all that life has to offer?

Thank God for the moments we get in between, like birthdays, public holidays, occasions, and my personal favorite, Weddings!

The best memory I have as a kid is twirling around in my mother’s wedding dress. I remember the details of the dress as the back of my hand. The beautiful neck embroidery, with pearls embedded in between, the corset-like top that curved inwards oh so perfectly, the long flowy gown that caused me quite a bit of a tumble. I guess that’s how my obsession with weddings really started.

Wedding Photography

Well, I may not be married by now but I have witnessed many weddings. If I could compare a wedding to anything, I’d compare it to a song. It could be any song that you like. A song has lyrics while a wedding has guests, the melody would be like wedding memories. You won’t get tired of listening to the same song over and over again and you sure as hell won’t get tired of reminiscing about your wedding. When you want to relax and enjoy your day, you put on your favorite song but how are you going to recall your wedding day?

This is where wedding photography comes in. The whole point of a wedding photographer is to capture your wedding day. Weddings don’t happen every year, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and you’d be crazy not to document it. Take my advice and splurge on photographers and videographers. If budget is an issue, then pick a cheaper venue, invite fewer people but DO NOT in any circumstance, skip out on a photographer. You will regret not capturing those moments and not having your memories in an album to show your kids and grandkids.

A Wedding In The Words of A Photographer

As I said, I’m not married but I managed to grasp the next best thing, I became a wedding photographer. Photography is a wide field and in the times we live in, everyone with a smartphone claims to be a photographer. I, for one, strongly disagree with this.

The charm of a photographer covering a wedding can never be replaced with a tacky smartphone. The lighting, the lenses, the filters, they’re all just incomparable. Not everyone can learn the art of photography. It takes an artistic eye to make use of whatever is available and to work around that.

Wedding Coverage

The job of a wedding photographer is harder than it sounds. For example, when I was a wedding photographer in the twin cities I had to deal with a very difficult group of people. The bride and groom were sweethearts but some of their guests were just so picky. They wanted pictures taken over and over again and really wanted to steal the bride and groom’s thunder. To deal with this situation, I gave them a disposable camera and told them to take as many pictures as they wanted. They were happy and I got to do my work peacefully.

Wedding photographers truly make or break the wedding. You may have had an amazing wedding but your photographer may not have done his/her best.

If you’re planning on getting married, then start looking for wedding photographers as soon as possible. You do not want to end up with blurry memories now, do you?
