Internet is an absolute necessity in these times. The world will come to a standstill if there is no availability of the internet. During the pandemic time, one thing that kept the whole world connected and going was the internet. Work from home is the new office during this time. People have used various apps like Discord, Slack, Mumble, TeamSpeak to keep connected with each other. Some of the people were stuck with a question like how to record discord audio as that option is not available here. Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, and Youtube are the lifeline of today’s people. All of this could not have been possible without the internet.

So let us check which country gives its people the best internet speed to its country people.

Nowadays internet speed is the reflection of your countries power, how good is that country in the IT and technology sector. Also, in some countries where the speed is low, that means the country does not enough infrastructure to support it. But nowadays the government is putting a tab on the net speed or censorship to control any unwanted situation to go out of hand.

Let us see which countries have excellent net speed. We will discuss in detail some other countries too.

  1. South Korea
  2. Sweden
  3. Norway
  4. Japan
  5. The Netherlands
  6. Hong Kong
  7. Latvia
  8. Switzerland
  9. Finland
  10. Denmark
  1. South Korea

South Korea is the giant in the production of electronics goods. It is the home to Samsung so without doubt the country has good infrastructure to support good internet speed. Here we would consider the average internet speed made available to the countries citizens. Here the average speed is 26.7Mbps and the average peak is 95.3. Here about 95% of the people living in this country use the internet. All this has happened due to the good governance of the government which has backed the broadband technology and its infrastructure has been given a big boost. Here the population density is more so nearly 95% of the country has 3G coverage which can be found in trains, metros, underground tunnels, and buildings. In many places WI-fi is free

  1. Sweden

In this country the average internet speed is 19.5Mbps. Compared to South Korea it is very less but still, the country is comparatively placed in the second position. Here the government interference is very less except near cross border part and some activities related to child pornography. The government has provided the excellent infrastructure for the companies to provide the best service to the country’s people.

  1. Norway

Norway has stood 3rd in the list; the average speed provided in this country is 18.8Mbps. It was the first non-English speaking nation to be connected with ARPANET(Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) back in the year 1971. They have built an excellent infrastructure for fiber optic and 4G technology. So that is the reason connectivity in the remote area has also gone up. Here the government has seen to it that user privacy is maintained and given adequate protection.

  1. Japan

Japan is at number 4 place in the list, here the average internet speed is at 17.5Mbps. Speaking about the highest peak average speed it is 82.5Mbps. It is one of few countries that took initiative to build a good and strong infrastructure for high-speed internet. It has done good work in taking fire to the home front. There are very few restrictions on the internet due to which the growth in this industry has been rapid. The government does not interfere with the public’s basic right of expression such as freedom to write and speak.

  1. The Netherlands

The Netherlands stands at position five with an average internet speed of 17Mbps. The country is at par with Switzerland taking into consideration the number of broadband subscribers. The amount of data that can be transferred has no restriction which is called broadband caps. Which is a great thing for internet users. It has the highest number of homes that have speeds higher than 50Mbps. They are using the local loop principle which enables redundancy in case of cyber-attack, all the people can stay connected during this time too. The government has very few restrictions here on the internet but it keeps tabs on child pornography and copies the right issues.

Some other notable countries which need to be are Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Latvia, and Hong Kong. These countries too have commendable internet speed. One thing common about all these countries is that they recognized the importance of the internet and the amount of impact it can have on the lives of the people or we can say on the citizen of that countries. Also, the point to be noted here is that all the countries name mentioned here are well-developed and some of the countries are leaders in the technology sector. High internet speed in this generation is the barometer for how developed that country is.
