st-thomas

St. Thomas is a popular Caribbean resort due to its beaches, restaurants, shops, and outdoor activities. This island is a popular cruise port, but it is also a wonderful area to spend some time in. In this guide, we will discuss the greatest things to do in St. Thomas, as well as tips for how to spend your time.

The list of things to do in St. Thomas is long for such a small island. Some things we liked, while others were okay.

The first list contains our favourite St. Thomas experiences, and things to do if you have a day or two on the island. Then I make a list of optional activities. If you have more time in St. Thomas, they are worthwhile (or you can skip them and spend more time at the beach).

1. MAGEN’S BAY BEACH

Magen’s Bay Beach is without a doubt our favourite thing to do on St. Thomas. Magen’s Bay Beach is the most beautiful on the island. This long expanse of white sand (under a mile wide) is the ideal place to spend the day. We spent three of our four days in St. Thomas at Magen’s Bay.

We came early in the morning, midday, and at nightfall, and it was wonderful all day. Magen’s Bay is an excellent location for paddle boarding. Right on the shore, there is a rental facility (they also rent kayaks). We noticed a few sea turtles while paddle boarding across the bay.

2. MOUNTAIN TOP

Mountain Top is St. Thomas’ highest point. The view of Magen’s Bay from here is breathtaking. It’s a windy trip up St. Peter Mountain to get here. Pass past the massive duty-free gift shop to reach the terrace, where the breathtaking view awaits.

In addition, Mountain Top claims to have the best banana daiquiri in the Virgin Islands. So, we had to try one (or two) of them for research purposes. They’re tasty, but painkillers are still our go-to drink while we’re in the Virgin Islands.

3. SKYRIDE

One of the nicest views of St. Thomas can be had from Paradise Point. There are two options for getting here. The Skyride is the most convenient and scenic method to get here. This little gondola transports guests from Charlotte Amalie’s east end to the lookout.

The Skyride appeared to be operational only while a cruise ship was in port during our visit. The Skyride was only operating on one of the four days we were in St. Thomas. As a result, there’s a considerable probability you’ll have to drive to Paradise Point. It’s an unnamed route, but it’s marked on our St. Thomas activities map (click here to view it).

4. SECRET HARBOR BEACH

This little, lovely beach may be found on the east end of St. Thomas. This is an excellent location for swimming and snorkelling. Sunset Grille is on the beach. You can order lunch or dinner or sip tropical cocktails from here. This beach is also home to Harbour Beach Villas, so if you want to stay near the beach, this is a good option.

5. LOVELY LINDQUIST BEACH

This is one of our favourite St. Thomas beaches. But, if you want to visit a calm beach with beautiful views of Smith Bay and Saint John, this is a fantastic beach to put on your itinerary.

Picnic tables are available beneath the trees. There are also restrooms, but no food or rental services are available. You’re at a state park featuring a beach. Bring a picnic lunch, towels, and swimsuit, and relax while admiring the vista.
