online traffic

If you run a business online, the traffic to your website is the lifeblood of your business. If you run a store online, every click is the equivalent of a customer walking through the doors of a traditional store. If you offer the service, it’s the equivalent of someone ringing you on the phone for a quote. If you run an online blog or news website, it’s the equivalent of someone picking up a newspaper to read. Traffic is often the critical difference between something being a hobby and something you can earn a wage from. Here are three ways you can help increase the amount of people viewing your website.

Target search engines

One of the best tools to help attract people to your business’ webpage is via a search engine. They are some of the most visited websites on the internet. For some people, it’s the first page they see once they open their browser. If you appear on a search engine results page, you’ll have the opportunity to be seen by hundreds if not thousands of new customers every day. The only problem is that to secure those clicks, you need to achieve two things.

The first is to make sure that you appear when relevant terms are searched. For example, if you’re a mechanic you want to appear when terms like “car repair” are searched for. The second is to make sure you’re high enough up the results page to be noticed. It’s rare that anybody clicks to even the second page of results on sites like Google, so unless you’re in the top 10 you may never be discovered. It can often be difficult to understand what makes one website appear higher than another on search engine websites. Luckily, companies like clickintelligence.co.uk have teams of experts who can make a bespoke plan to achieve both of these things and make sure your website is seen by a large number of users.

Another of the most-visited pages and most-used apps are social media platforms. Millions of people spend a large amount of their time online checking websites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If your business can utilise the popularity of these platforms, then your posts will regularly be seen alongside updates from their friends and family. Simply set up a page on these social media accounts, publish images of your latest products or services and then encourage others to share with their friends and family to increase the amount of people they’re seen by.

Stay in contact

Once you’ve secured the traffic, whether it’s via a search engine, a social media site or some other method, it’s important that you keep in contact with that user. Ask them to follow you on social media so you they can see your latest posts advertising your latest products. You could also send them a newsletter with the same content directly to their inbox.

Whatever the method, make sure you don’t loose contact with that potential customer.
