madagascar place

Madagascar is a magical place, but it can feel like there’s not much to do. Well, that’s not true! There are many things to do in Madagascar and we’ve compiled our top picks for the best-of-the-best.

Visit the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it’s easy to see why. The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife. It also contains a variety of ecosystems such as mangroves and spiny forests that are unique to Madagascar.

Visit rainforests in Madagascar

Madagascar is known as the ‘land of forests’ thanks to its rich biodiversity and tropical climate. The country has four distinct ecological zones – dry deciduous forests, spiny bush scrub, coastal forests and rainforests – which harbour a plethora of plant and animal species. It is home to over 10% of all plant species on earth and about 90% of its animals are endemic species (found nowhere else).

Visit Nosy Be

Nosy Be is an island off the northeast coast of Madagascar. It is one of the largest tourist destinations in Madagascar and has long been known as a destination for scuba divers looking for whale sharks, manta rays and other large pelagics as well as both reef fish and shoals of pelagic fish such as tuna and marlin. More recently, it has become a popular destination for snorkelling due to its coral reefs being largely unspoilt compared with many other parts of Madagascar.

Go on a nature walk in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park

This park is home to many species of birds, reptiles and amphibians found nowhere else in the world. You can also see fossas, which are carnivorous mammals that look similar to a mongoose or weasel but are actually related to civets and genets.

Visit Nosy Komba

Visit Nosy Komba, one of the largest islands off the east coast of Madagascar. The island has dense forests that are home to lemurs and other primates found nowhere else in the world. There is also white sand beaches with clear waters for swimming and snorkeling.

Visit Ouessant Island

Ouessant Island is located just off the coast of Madagascar and is considered one of the most beautiful islands in all of Africa. It’s surrounded by crystal clear waters filled with colorful fish, coral reefs and other sea creatures that make this place worth visiting at least once in your lifetime!

Go whale-watching in Majunga

Head to Madagascan waters to spot some of the world’s largest marine mammals. Humpback whales migrate here from June until September. Watch them breach and spy-hop from the boat or snorkel with them from the water – it’s an unforgettable experience!

Enjoy a spa day

Madagascar has some of the best spas in the world. If you’re looking to relax and unwind after a long day at the beach, there are many different options available.

If you’re looking for something more adventurous, there are also many spas that offer mud baths and other treatments that can be applied directly to your skin while lying down in a mud pit or pool. These treatments will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth after spending time in the sun all day!

Volunteer and teach English to children

Teaching English as a second language is one of the most popular volunteering activities in Madagascar. Volunteers can teach at local schools and NGO’s throughout the country. Most schools offer accommodation included in the price, but it’s worth checking before committing yourself.  If you decide to volunteer overseas, this will be a real opportunity to get to know the country and the culture in the right way.

Sail across the Indian Ocean on a luxury catamaran cruise

The best time to sail to Madagascar is between September and November, when the weather is generally pleasant and warm.

The best destinations for sailing in Madagascar are Tamatave, Mahajanga and Fort Dauphin (also known as Tolanaro). These ports are located on the east coast of the island, which means that you’ll be able to see lots of exotic wildlife during your trip!

If you want a place with great beaches but still close enough to town amenities like restaurants and shopping centers then I recommend staying at Le Meridien Sofi Beach Resort in Ambatoloaka or Hotel Le Village Club Resort & Spa in Nosy Be – both located within walking distance from Nosy Komba beach if that’s where all your friends want go swimming every day (which it probably will be). There’s also an airport shuttle available from both these hotels so don’t worry about getting stuck without transportation options once again!

Visit an aquarium

A visit to an aquarium can be very entertaining for both adults and children alike. You can see local marine life up close while learning more about them through interactive displays or educational talks. If possible, plan your visit during feeding time so that you can watch the inhabitants interact with each other!Go on an adventure to see lemurs in their natural habitat

Madagascar has over 100 different species of lemurs and they can be found just about everywhere on the island! The best place to see them is at one of the many national parks around the country. There are several different types of lemurs that live in each park so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see them up close! I recommend going during the day so you can enjoy some activities as well as just admiring all of these adorable creatures!

Madagascar is a beautiful country with lots to see and do. We hope this list has given you some ideas for your next vacation!
