Belt Grinders 2X72
For the production of professional knives, 2 x 72 tires are considered the industry standard. This size is suitable for most cutting belts made specifically for North American knives. The biggest disadvantage of the 2×72 belt is the price. The knife is worth investing in a professional manufacturer, but if you are a fan or a beginner, it may make sense to buy a smaller grinder, such as a 2×42, first.

Belt Grinders 1X30
Wallets with a 1×30 belt are an excellent tool for finishing and large investments. It is used for knife sharpening and precise work, but the 1-inch belt is not wide enough for the material to be effectively leveled on larger knives (some mills have a 6-inch plate grinder to help with this step). Because it is only 30 centimeters long, it has a less corrosive surface and therefore does not reduce heat, and the tire can be replaced more often. Limited strength and breathability can also make it difficult to handle thicker materials, such as surface belts.

Belt Grinders 1X42

2X42 Belt Grinders
2×42 crushers are usually designed for the wood industry market and have a 6-inch grinder. They still work well in the production of knives and are very popular among hobby knife manufacturers who have just started and need flat grinding. 2×42 belt offers greater durability than 1×30 and 1×42 belts. The 6 ” dial can be very handy for smaller tasks, especially by adjusting the angle of the weight of the front blade.
The main disadvantage of 2×42 grinders is that they have an engine with 1/3 horsepower. The slower motor is lowered by grinding, which can limit the grinding capacity.
2X48 BELT GRINDERS
2×48 paper shredders can be a great alternative to 2×72 paper shredders. It is used by professionals and fans. Sandals with a 2×48 strap often have a larger car than many other small sandals. 4X36 BELT GRINDERS
Belt grinders 4×36 are not on this list, not because they are suitable for making knives, but because we want to pay attention to them. 4×36 belt sander is very common as it can be found in most hardware stores.
These grinders are good for woodworking, but not very suitable for most knives. The manufacturing method of most 4×36 grinders avoids the use of belt edges. A weak engine and wide belt sand are also slower than most other machines. You might be tempted to use a 4×36 grinder, especially if you already have it, but it’s not ideal for making knives at all.
Considerations outside of group size
Belt size, while important, is not the only factor to consider when choosing a top-rated knife grinder. There are three factors to consider when purchasing a grinder.
MOTOR SIZE
The size of the car is one of the most important factors when choosing a bricklayer. To grind steel efficiently, you need a high tire speed with the ability to push the tire under high pressure. If you don’t have a big car, you can’t drive well. Typically you will need a 1 horsepower motor for every 72-inch width. As the length of the tire decreases, the load on the engine decreases. Thus, a shorter strip length requires less energy.
For example, a 2×72 grinder works best on a car with at least 2 horsepower. On the other hand, the 2×48 grinder can work well with a car that delivers 1.5hp because the tire length is shorter.
SPEED
When grinding steel, a higher braking speed is required compared to wood. Because of this, wood mills have lower cutting speeds in metal. The braking speed (measured in feet per minute) should be between 4,100 and 7,000 depending on the type of metal. You can calculate the speed of the zone using the following formula:

VARIABLE SPEED
Not all grinders have different speed settings, and you don’t have to make knives, but it’s a practical matter. Variable speed grinders allow you to cut heavy steel at full speed when grinding at slower speeds. With the ability to control the speed, you can make knives more precisely and easily.
