Best Packing Tips for Travel
Useful information and recommendations about travel packing you should know before beginning…
Make A Holiday Packing List
The mandatory thing is to make a list before starting. It’s for most people ubiquitous than a packing list. And so, before we go out traveling, I make sure to come up with a packing checklist from clothes and shoes, to travel necessities, and electronic gadgets and anything you can possibly think of in between. It means, as I pack, I can check off the list and should keep track on me not to forget anything. If its prior to a major overseas trip for example, I begin my list about a week to two weeks before travelling in case there is anything more that I need more of like say mosquito repellent, sun screen lotion or some clothing piece that is put away.
Assess Your Toiletries
So, three huge chunks of advice for buying toiletries. First of all, try to replace combined products, such as shampoo bar, conditioner bar, shower gel bar and deodorant bar. Not only are they more friendly in terms of the environment as compared to what is packaged in plastics, they are lighter. Lately, I have read that coconut oil can be used instead of moisturizer, hand cream, conditioner, makeup remover and shaving creams but I do not know how true this is because I haven’t personally tasted it. Pack lightly the less you carry the better and if possible, take only small things as much as you can. I already knew that it’s difficult to share sometimes the personal products but believe me this strategy will make your trip smoother because you & your loved ones know the things are already outside not everybody needs to make changes for themselves.
Travel Documents
Some of the items which will usually contain identifying information. Range of items: Passports, driving licenses, travel insurance, booking vouchers, boarding passes among others. It will be preferable to photocopy and email the documents to yourself to ensure they are not lost. It is even better if you can download copies to your phone too. Make sure the scanned copies are your passport and your driving license. It is also useful to jot down a document sheet for every piece of luggage and the receiver should put ones contact number and place of stay besides.
Know Your Luggage Weight
Remember to check your allowance for each part of your trip especially if you are flying different airlines, although all may have the same allowance; this may not be the case. For instance, we flew Emirates from Lisbon to Bangkok with a connecting Emirates flight from Dubai and used Thai Airways to fly to/from Krabi. While we had 32kgs per person on Emirates our allowance with Thai Airways was only 20kgs per person. Therefore, when are ready with your suitcase packing tips, remember the working minimum of each and carry the allowance.
Don’t Over-Pack- Roll, Roll, Roll
For as long as I can remember, I was a flat packer. All clothes and other belongings were perfectly ironed and placed side by side in my suitcase. Until I got learn one of the best ways to pack smart while traveling when searching for a space to pack your cloths or in a bid to avoid getting them wrinkled; rolling the cloths instead of folding them. Rolling your clothes is not only helpful in removing wrinkles but also helps in saving much space. That said it doesn’t mean you should take more but it could mean you reduce the number of luggage you take by one bag! The mentioned above are the most valuable bits of information I got on holiday packing up which made me change the way we pack our bags completely.
Conclusion
It can be and always is a fun and enjoyable time when travelling with children and they can make a trip very enjoyable throughout the process. That is why, with the right planning and packing, your entire family can make the trip as smooth as possible. Do not forget to be adaptive, maintain a good attitude and ensure you make the most out of your family travel experiences and the most importantly to avoid routine stress & suffering. Safe travels!
