Development Of Movie

James first discussed Avatar: The Way Of Water movie in 2010 and continued working on and planning it until 2013. In 2013, he announced that the sequel would be filmed in New Zealand. However, because of various reasons, such as legal conflicts the movie production was delayed. The principal photography began in September 2017, and shooting was completed in September 2020.

Writing Of movie

Rick Jaffa started writing for this Avatar film in 2012, but it took 5 years to complete. It happened because Cameron wanted to keep the sequel connected to the original movie. Jaffa wasn’t able to do that and was producing new stories. Hence, Cameron helped him write the story.

Shooting Of movie

The preliminary shooting for this movie began in August 2017 in Manhattan Beach. Thanks to underwater motion capture cameras and underwater 3D cameras, the film was shot underwater and on the surface. The crew also created sets over the water that could be lowered at shooting time.
