ULTRABOOKS ARE EXPENSIVE

Ultrabooks are the high-end notebooks that fill the gap between lightweight laptops and tablets. These are perfect lightweight and thin systems that weigh less than 2 kg and these will not start to weigh you down after a few hours.

So, the ultrabooks are perfect companions for the students and office goers.

The basic idea behind inventing Ultrabooks was to get all the key and advanced features in a thin, compatible, lightweight, and compact system that can be carried easily.

These are equipped with Solid-state drives (SSDs), unibody chassis, and low-power processors. As ultrabooks are thin and smaller than laptops and PCs so they lack basic optic disc drives and Ethernet ports.

Difference between a Laptop and Ultrabook

Ultrabook is a term that was coined by INTEL in 2011 to describe a system that is sleek, lightweight, and equipped with all the modern features required for proper working. These vary in size and weights different, usually from 13 to 20 inches of size and weight from 4 to 18 pounds.

One more thing, the price bracket set by the Intel for ultrabooks was a round 1000. You can buy a good ultrabook under $1000, but it seems some brands have altogether forgotten this.

These are small things that differentiate between a simple laptop and ultrabooks. Following are the differences between a simple laptop and an ultrabook:

Design and Looks

Ultrabooks have an edge over simple laptops when it comes to design and looks. Ultrabooks are thin, lightweight, and sleek. Most of the ultrabooks weigh less and have a size of less than 20 inches while regular portable laptops are thick, heavy with a weight of more than 4 pounds with only business premium laptops having less weight. Their sizes vary from 14 to 18 inches.

Most of the ultrabooks have better and high-quality finishing. Magnesium, Aluminum, Glass, Carbon fiber, and other premium materials are used in the making of ultrabooks  but this is not common simple laptops. Ultrabooks have the same level of compactness just as Macbook Air.

Battery Life

Ultrabooks tend to have more battery life than regular laptops. It is stated by INTEL that different companies offering ultrabooks have designed them as such that they have a battery life of 6 plus hours. The Haswell ultrabooks deliver impressive battery life of 9 plus hours.

In most ultrabooks, the battery and other hardware components are non-removable or encased in order to save space while in regular laptops, this is not the case. The memory components, battery, and other hardware components are quite accessible and replaceable in the case of regular laptops.

Some people might not like the fact that ultrabooks d not give you the ability to access or remove the battery easily but do not worry, as still, some companies offer ultrabooks in which you can access the hardware components but with some extra effort lie using the screwdrivers.

Hardware

The ultrabooks need to be built on ULV platforms that have compact and packed low-power setup along with graphics components.

They are fairly snappy as well because these hardware and graphics components integrated into them give faster performance and better-quality graphics. ULV is a good performer between power and efficiency. While regular laptops have heavy integrated components that work fast but heat the system quickly and easily.

Keyboards

Ultrabooks have thin silhouettes du to which they have shallow keyboards and here’s where simple laptops have taken over the ultrabooks as they have more space and bigger accessible keyboards. But that is not a common or fixed thing as many of the ultrabooks have good keyboards providing you better user experience.

Performance

Both the ultrabooks and simple laptops perform the best while being in their domain. Ultrabooks have low-power setups with high-performing components integrated into them while the regular laptops have high-speed machinery working faster. While ultrabooks also have high storage capacity and a large screen size.

Portability

Talking about portability, it is already understood that ultrabooks have won the competition. They are named so because of their sleek, portable, and thin body.

They have less weight and are smaller in size which makes them easy to carry around and ideal for students especially.

Price

You can easily get regular laptops in the price range of $100 and above. While ultrabooks are very expensive due to the advanced features, portability, high-end chassis, and advanced features. They start from $1000 to whatever price you can afford. Long battery life, fancy craftsmanship, and modern new features are the reasons for the high price of ultrabooks.

Do Ultrabooks Overheat?

Yes, the ultrabooks do get hot, but some laptops with best cooling system cater heat issue.  They have lighter and more compact body due to which smaller heat sinks are present in them. But ultrabooks perform faster and better than regular laptops.

So, when they are being operated for hours and hours, the ultrabooks get hot.

Due to smaller heat sinks, they tend to become hotter than regular laptops as heat throw outside the system becomes difficult.

You may also experience auto shut down due to system overheating. This is also known as Thermal Shutdown.

Do Ultrabooks have last longer?

They do last longer if you take care of them . Everything being taken care of last longer than usual. Ultrabooks are the on-the-go systems that help you work anytime, anywhere easily without any load on your shoulders or in your hands.  These are good machines that can last 10 to 15ears easily if taken care of them properly with all the instructions followed and precautions taken.

Is an Ultrabook worth buying?

Ultrabooks are machines that are surely worth buying. Thye have better quality features with advanced components integrated into them. Compact size, less weight, sleekness, portability, good screen size, and large storage capacity are the major features that help it take over regular laptops and make them more expensive as well.

Conclusion

Ultrabooks are definitely worth the money. There are many similarities and differences between regular laptops and ultrabooks.

The limelight features that make ultrabooks expensive are their fancy sleek look and design, better quality hardware and memory components, high-end performance, bigger screen, and many other features especially portability which is less common in regular laptops.

So, in 2021 people usually prefer ultrabooks over heavy laptops that can not be carried around all day long.
