What is TikTok?

TikTok describes itself as “the destination for short-form mobile videos”. Much like Snapchat and Vine, users of the app can make and share short vertical videos of up to 15 seconds. It’s vast collection of sound effects and music means that it is mostly used for lip-synching videos, challenges and jokes.


Who Uses It?

TikTok saw a particular fast uptake among teenage audiences. Now it is estimated that 41% of app’s millions-strong user base is aged between 16 -24.It is also quite popular among women who comprise roughly two-thirds of users and content creators.

TikTok allows marketers to get access to hard-to-reach teenage audiences. What’s more, the relative newness of the app means that influencer marketing is far less expensive.
