One of the fastest growing social media platforms in 2019, TikTok has now surpassed Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat in monthly installs. This infographic from One Productions asks if there is a way marketers can use this rising video-based social network as a new and innovative way to promote their brands.
What is TikTok?
TikTok describes itself as “the destination for short-form mobile videos”. Much like Snapchat and Vine, users of the app can make and share short vertical videos of up to 15 seconds. It’s vast collection of sound effects and music means that it is mostly used for lip-synching videos, challenges and jokes.
Who Uses It?
TikTok saw a particular fast uptake among teenage audiences. Now it is estimated that 41% of app’s millions-strong user base is aged between 16 -24.It is also quite popular among women who comprise roughly two-thirds of users and content creators.
Should Your Brand Use TikTok?
TikTok allows marketers to get access to hard-to-reach teenage audiences. What’s more, the relative newness of the app means that influencer marketing is far less expensive.
Given these advantages, many advertisers are clamouring to get on the platform. However, before signing up it’s important that your marketing team researches the platform and makes sure that it is an appropriate choice for your brand.
