Best Smartphones Made for Hardcore Gaming (2019-2020)

Gaming smartphones continue to gain popularity in 2019 and as mobile games are becoming increasingly demanding and are even gaining in relevance in the eSports sector, the mobile phones for gambling are just in the right place.

Admittedly, most gaming smartphones are also the best mobile phones because they are already perfectly designed for everything in terms of features and performance.

However, there are a few key factors to consider when choosing a gaming smartphone. Probably the most crucial point would be a powerful chipset with which you can play all your mobile games fluently.

Another crucial factor is a high-quality and large display so that your finger does not cover the entire picture when swiping. Furthermore, there is still a good battery life, so you do not have to panic even during longer sessions on the road, that your device will soon go out. Especially with popular online games like PUBG and Fortnite, this is a crucial aspect.

Of course, we have taken all these aspects into account in our list, and we also did not miss out on features such as internal storage and memory.

You will also find many Apple iPhones appear on our list. This is because the App Store is still unbeatable and the quality of the iPhone games and apps is always superior to Android games and apps.

It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for a gaming smartphone with a gaming look including RGB lighting or a traditional phone with good gaming prowess.

I am a gamer at heart and besides writing about smartphones, I also bring you latest video game news reviews. Today I have combined both favorite topics i.e gaming and smartphones together to bring you the best gaming smartphones. I hope you will like my list.

Important Note For Black Friday And Cyber Monday Week 2019

If you can wait a bit, then you have a lot of offers for Black Friday and Cyber Monday Week. Although we can not guarantee that the best gaming smartphone will be there for you, the short wait of about a week should still be worthwhile.

iPhone 11 Pro Max – The Best Gaming iPhone

Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max is, of course, the ultimate iOS game machine. The premium flagship has an impressively beautiful 6.5-inch RETINA display. The AMOLED technology behind this screen ensures that games are razor-sharp and rich saturated colors.

The Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max is equipped with the fastest processor in 2019. It has an improved A13 Bionic processor. The fast processor has been coupled with 4 GB of memory and a wide selection of storage quantities. While the 4GB memory might look very small on paper, the games run flawlessly due to better optimization of the games and the iOS.

The phone is an excellent choice for gaming due to many reasons. Not only do games start-up super fast, but you can also run several at the same time without any problems. Also, the iPhone has a special 3D camera with which you can even play 3D (augmented reality) games. The battery life has been improved thanks to the use of smart technologies. This means you game for a longer period.

In addition to an excellent gaming phone, the iPhone is a great camera phone. There is a decent selfie camera at the front while the back features a set of three cameras. A regular camera together with a wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera. It can shoot great photos in every lighting condition. The Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max is the ultimate iOS gaming smartphone and smart choice for the smartphone gamer.

OnePlus 7 Pro –  The Best Price To Performance

For those who cannot afford or do not want an iPhone, the OnePlus 7 Pro with its Snapdragon 855 processor and optionally 6, 8 or 12 GB of RAM offers all that the much more expensive competition has to offer. The phone has the power to handle any kind of game.

OnePlus 7 Pro is the first smartphone from OnePlus with a QHD display. The size of the display is also impressive. Coming at 6.67 inches mobile games with sophisticated graphics looks amazing. The most important highlight of the phone’s display is the refresh rate of 90 Hz, which is particularly handy when playing fast titles.

The 4000mAh battery makes up for a very good battery time. This guarantees particularly long gaming sessions even when playing graphic intense games such as PUBG and Pokemon Go.

Asus ROG Phone II – The Best Gaming Phone Made For Gamers

Asus ROG Phone 2 comes with all the features that should make every gamer’s heart beat faster. It comes with a gigantic battery of 6000 mAh for long sessions on the road. It has an impressive 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a crazy 120 Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, it has the latest and fastest Snapdragon 855 Plus processor together with a whopping 12 GB of RAM. A great processor, huge battery, plenty of memory, and a big display with crazy refresh-rate are the reasons why it is my personal favorite.

Since this phone was explicitly designed to game on, it offers accessories that other smartphones do not have. However, these do not come with the phone, but must be purchased separately.

Another highlight is the pre-installed software that lets you overclock your processor and adjust your fan speed to optimize your gaming experience

A wireless charging function does not exist, the water-resistance leaves a lot to be desired and the optics are very hard to get used to. If the gaming aspect comes first and the design appeals to you, then the Asus ROG Phone 2 is at least unbeaten.

Razer Phone 2 – Designed For Gaming

The first Razer phone was a solid attempt to bring the game-specific brand on a mobile device, but it had some shortcomings that put it further down our ranking. The second version has now addressed a few of the issues and brought out a much-improved device, though it is still primarily intended for gamers.

This means that the camera and display are not nearly as impressive as the other phones in its price range, so occasional gamers should look elsewhere. However, if you are serious about playing mobile games and can afford it, this is a good choice.

The design of the Razer Phone 2 is not particularly different from its predecessor, the back panel has been made of glass for wireless charging via Qi technology. The processor has also been upgraded to the Snapdragon 845 but it still lags behind the likes of Asus ROG II.

At the end of the day, a decent chipset, 8GB of RAM, 120Hz display and 4000mAh battery, as well as extensive setup options to optimize performance and battery life are a great choice for gaming.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ – The Best Gaming Phone From Samsung

Samsung has been improving its Galaxy S series of smartphones in terms of performance with every iteration. This year, the new Snapdragon 855 processor is primarily responsible for this. The current chipset from Qualcomm is more powerful than ever and almost unbeatable except by the 855+.

The razor-sharp AMOLED display also makes the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the S10 + one of the best gaming smartphones due to its high dynamic range. Although the display looks beautiful, I prefer the displays of Asus ROG Phone II, Razer Phone 2, and the OnePlus 7 Pro with a high refresh rate.

The display is gigantic which also makes gaming fun on the phone. You get both a super gaming phone and the first-class device for everyday use with the latest generation of Galaxy S smartphones.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 – The Cheapest Phone Made For Gaming

Xiaomi has officially advertised the Black Shark 2 as a gaming phone. The second generation of the Black Shark phone is more powerful and has an improved display. It has a decent AMOLED display but has a mediocre 60Hz refresh rate which is a shame for a phone that is advertised as a gaming phone. But the little quirks do not break the Black Shark 2 off our list.

Under the hood, it has a powerful Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with optional 6/8/12GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage. A decent 4000mAh battery should be enough for long gaming sessions before you have to charge your phone.

Besides, it has a great camera and other high-quality components to fight the current competition.

iPhone 11 – The Cheaping Gaming iPhone

Although the iPhone 11 saves on some features compared to the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, it convinces with a much lower price. And even if it has a small display for a current Apple smartphone, it still has a fairly large display at 6.1 inches.

It has the same powerful processor (A13 Bionic) as the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. It also comes with 4GB memory and various options for internal storage ranging from 64GB up to 256GB.

Thus, it can be at least as good as a gaming smartphone like the others and may even have certain advantages when gambling even by the smaller number of pixels.

Even though the battery capacity is a miserly 3110mAh, due to excellent optimization techniques of the iOS 13, it provides great battery time. Overall, it is a great iPhone for gaming for just under $700.

Huawei P30 Pro – The Best Android Phone That Can Game

The Huawei P30 Pro is not the best-known gaming smartphone on our list, but it’s an impressive Android phone. Probably the most impressive feature of the device is the camera. It has as a set of three cameras at the back, one of which is equipped with a 5x periscope zoom lens. It also takes great photos in extreme low light conditions

Of course, we would not mention the phone, if it was not meant to game. The Kiri 980 processor is enough for all current Android games and the 8 GB of RAM lets you switch between apps back and forth. It has a dedicated GPU turbo mode which Huawei promises to improve gaming performance by up to 30%

The gigantic 4200 mAh battery lets you play for hours without problems and an extra cooling chamber never lets the device get hot. If you want to buy an excellent phone that can also play graphic intense games, Huawei P30 Pro is the phone to get.

LG G8x ThinQ – A New Take On Gaming Phone

LG was lagging behind the competition for quite a few years now. The reason for its demise was lackluster designs, bad software, not so great camera performance and asking high prices for its phone. LG might be heading in the right direction with the LG G8x ThinQ.

Yes, the design is similar to the rest of the LG phones but it offers something which the other phones do not have. It comes with a secondary display that might be an excellent add-on for your gaming needs. It is probably the best folding phone out there. The secondary display can also be used as a controller for your games.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor provides lots of power for your games to run flawlessly. It has many variants when it comes to memory and internal storage. It starts from 6GB RAM with 128gb internal storage to up to 512GB internal storage and 8GB RAM.

The LG G8x ThinQ starts at $699 which a real bargain considering the features and specs that this phone offers. LG has done the pricing right this time.

Xiaomi Mi 9 – The Budget Gaming Phone

Xiaomi Mi 9 is the ultimate gaming phone for those with a limited budget. This is one of the best phones for playing games from Xiaomi in addition to the special Black Shark gaming phone.

The affordable flagship is richly equipped with a set of excellent cameras. You can buy all this for less than $450. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is suitable as a gaming phone because the device is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 855 with a lot of memory. You get 128 GB of storage space and that is sufficient for a considerable amount of games. This combination provides a smooth gaming experience. Thanks to the 6.39-inch AMOLED display, the games look crisp and vibrant on the phone.

Besides being the ultimate budget gaming phone, Xiaomi Mi 9 is also a very good camera phone. The rear cameras on the back of this device let you capture sharp photos. The 48-megapixel main camera lets you take detailed photos. The 12-megapixel camera allows you to zoom two times and the 16MP wide-angle camera helps you capture more in the frame.

Thanks to super-fast autofocus you will never miss a moment. The gaming phone has a 3,300 mAh battery which is comparatively smaller than the competition but still enough to get you through the day

This concludes our list of the best gaming smartphones for 2019 and 2020. What is your favorite smartphone for gaming? please do let us know in the comments below.
