Today, context is essential as Google developed the latent semantic indexing and artificial intelligence, which means that your page should have excellent content. Both words and context are crucial today to stay relevant in the ranks. 

Social media is one of the most vital means of spreading webpages. A decade ago, social media were just another budding project full of potential. But now, almost every major corporation in the world has a social media account, and your website can even survive despite low page ranks if your social media marketing is strong. 

In terms of backlinks, there is also a significant change. Before, you can also spam backlinks, and it still works in maintaining your rank. Today, spamming backlinks can get you penalized by Google. Today, quality backlinks are the only one working, and you can do it by maintaining a good relationship with your website clients. 

Old SEO focuses on single pages, keywords, and rankings only, and new SEO is more ROI focused and people engaging with an audience for your site. Content is the reason why more and more websites contain blogs. However, blogs are not the only types of content you can have for your site, and other multimedia content is relevant. 

Videos, infographics, and social media campaigns are now considered as SEO campaigns. Yes, content is king, but visually-pleasing images are just as important because it makes your viewers more entertained. Today, there may be new developments in work in the field of SEO and SEM.
