lenovo thinkStation

In the ongoing year, we’ve come across some of the groundbreaking launches that became a hot topic due to their offerings. Speaking of which, I’m going to review a product that recently took over the tech scene everywhere.

If you’re a tech nerd, you must know there are so many options available when it comes to Lenovo refurbished and new gadgets. Since the last decade, Lenovo’s ThinkStation collection has been offering high-performing, under-the-desk hardware and components. From tiny form factors to multiple socket power designs, Lenovo has focused on every detail and try to meet consumer’s demands. The system I’m about to discuss today has set a benchmark in the ThinkStation series, let’s have a look at what it has got under the hood.

Partnering with AMD, Lenovo has manufactured a first-ever AMD Threadripper Pro workstation. The system is exceptional as it delivers a dual CPU experience within a single processor which is ISV certified for the multithread application environments.

It goes without saying that the novel workstation has arrived to replace all the previous Intel-based ThinkStations.

With AMD Workstation, it forms the 600 series and is built on the Threadripper Pro. Comparing it with its predecessor, ThinkStation P620 provides better performance than the P500 series, and notably above P900, and P700 as well. You must wonder why it is ‘600’ then, it’s because they’re based on the single socket, that’s why they belong to the 600 series and not the higher ones.

There are multiple reasons for Lenovo to join the AMD squad with their promising launch. AMD’s 64-core coupled with the 280 W provides exceptional performance and also allows the functionalities over standard Threadripper along with the 8x memory support, multiple PCIe lanes, ECC memory, and pro-level management. It’s a fact that Intel’s collection hasn’t offered something novel to the consumers in the last few years, in such a case, AMD is the right option for Lenovo to go for.

With a single socket, it provides more space for the design, and also contains the dual heatsink which cools down the 280 W CPU – this is something never seen before in the P Series of Lenovo. In addition, DRAM sections contain secure coolers for facilitating high-capacity memory. It must be noted that it also comes with a custom-designed power supply to route power directly through the motherboard. And another amazing detail is that fans are removable, tool-less, and even the power supply can be removed with the help of just 2 fingers.

No time, Lenovo has put a lot of thought, and effort into creating a PC that is easy to use, understand, fix, maintain and upgrade. With the neat internal arrangement, it has a greater visual appeal internally as well.

Specifications

for its AMD’s Threadripper processors, P620 has a custom WRX80 motherboard, which allows 8 channels of memory and up to 64 of AMD’s Zen 2 cores.  In addition, there are x16 slots and two x8 slots, but note that some slots are covered with dual-width cards in use. While multiple lanes are enabled for NVMe storage through dual x4 M.2 slots and a 10-gigabit ethernet controller. Other connectivity options include a front panel with two USB 3.2 (10 Gbps), two USB 3.2 (10 Gbps, one always-on), a headphone combo jack. The rear ports are two USB 2.0 ports, four USB 3.2 (10 Gbps) Type C, the 10-gigabyte Ethernet port, and 2.1 audio output. ThinkStation comes with the TR Pro CPU that supports the full configuration of the 2 TB DDR4-3200. Its build contains a single memory slot per channel.

The powerful combination of the components provides uncompromised performance and robust usability. Have a look at the following detailed specifications

Speaking of the price, the full-featured configured comes with a price of $60634. We agree that it is a whopping amount of money, but you won’t find such incredible features at this price in any other brand. In addition, note that Lenovo is selling a limited number of these systems through the website, and most of these sales are happening through B2B channels.

Lenovo scored major points over here as the impeccable system is like no other in the market. Indeed, the ThinkStation is the focal point at the moment, and proudly sits at the front and the center for all to see. As it is built according to the current consumers’ needs and demands, ThinkStation P620 offers a high-end user experience with enterprise-level features so you can have robust security, seamless manageability, and persistent support. You’re about to experience power like never before!

I’m concluding this review on a positive note that ThinkStation P620 is a rejuvenating wave in the market right now. If you’re not limited by the budget and want to recover the true value for your money, just go for the ThinkStation. Whether you need to execute seamless operations for your business or want a system to create and render 3D graphics, ThinkStation P620 is your reliable partner that delivers the highest clock speed and unmatched performance.
