online shopping

For as long as we have known, business and occupations have been broadly divided into two major classifications, Products and Services. Today, however, the line seems to be disappearing. Products are no longer mere consumables and services can also be turned into products.

Where does an average consumer stand then? Is he buying an item or a service which people are calling a product? Frankly, that doesn’t matter anymore. The digital revolution has made things pretty simple for a lot of people. Today, there is an app for everything, regardless of whether you deem it to be a product or a service.

Fast Lives, More Needs

In olden days, people had slower lives and fewer needs. Although they had the time to cater to many requirements, they did not really “NEED” them, so they would forego it. However, today, people have more complicated lives, with higher demands and even higher “NEEDS”. But is there enough time to cater for all of this?

Lives are too fast today. People have burdened them with some sense of making money which forces them to work long hours, travel a lot and rest poorly. But one does need to survive right? FMCG or Fast Moving Consumer Goods are absolute essentials without which one cannot survive. These goods include edibles, detergents, perfumes and other daily objects. Usually, people would hit the grocery store to buy these items, but today, online shopping has made things a lot easier for people who can’t afford the time.

What’s Better?

There are two primary schools of thought in this respect.

The Pro Retailers

This is the old school ideology. Certain people believe that it is always better to touch and feel and look at the item physically before you purchase it. Especially when it comes to consumables. Anything that is used on your body, for your body or goes inside your body requires close inspection. Pictures cannot do justice to the color of a tomato or the scent of a detergent.

The Lobbyists of Online Shopping

A large chunk of the population loves online shopping. It is convenient, easy, and a blessing to all the lazy people in the world. But that’s not where it stops. Online shopping can give you a detailed description of things that you wouldn’t even consider while shopping physically. It also makes things a little cheaper because there are no middle expenditures or operational costs of maintaining stores. Items are shipped directly from the warehouse to the destination, saving a lot of money.

What’s the Verdict?

Online shopping is gaining a lot of popularity and that too very soon. As more and more people begin to use on demand delivery applications, what’s popular and what’s not popular becomes abundantly clear. With policies such as “no questions asked refunds and returns” and “Cash on delivery” there is hardly any reason for the general masses to give Delivery on demand app the wide berth.

Apps as a Business

Today, if there is a requirement, there is an app to address it. Billions of people all over the world are dependent on one app or another for one or many needs. This is why getting into the application business seems very lucrative. People can either start building their apps or buy ready made apps addressing a particular industry such as FMCG deliveries. These apps can become an instant success and eventually roll in the big bucks for their clients.
