After you have taken the backup, you need to press down the eight tabs. This option is preset under the gray frame area. You can do that with the help of a flathead screwdriver. Make sure that you are opening in properly as they are present on both sides.
After you are done opening the screws, you need to remove the frame once you have disengaged the tabs.
You need to remove the screws from every corner.
After that, you need to disengage the four metal tabs that are present on the top of the metal frame. The three are present at the bottom of it. These screws are going to pop-out just like that when you have removed the tabs.
After that, you need to remove the plastic ring that is present around the screen.
After you are done with that, you need to pull the screen up so that it is on its bottom edge.
After that, you need to pull out the metal band that is there on the right side of the device. After that, you need to remove the screen.
There, you have to install the SD card adapter. This adapter is going to be the slot for the new SD card. In order to attach the SD card adapter, you need to solder the wires. Make sure that you are doing it very neatly correctly.

After the soldering is complete, you need to put the SD card into the SD card adapter. After that, you need to reassemble your TomTom device. Connect your TomTom device with your PC through the USB port.
