How To Download GST Registration Certificate From The Official Government GST Portal – Step-by-Step Guide

The sole reason why taxpayers are required to download the GST Certificate of Registration online from the government GST portal is that the form is not made available physically.

In the following guide, we will walk you through the simple procedure on how to download the GST Registration Certificate online from the government GST portal onto your computer.

Please note that although it may be possible to download the GST Registration Certificate (available in PDF format only) on a tablet or smartphone, however, not all smartphones would support downloading files and/or reading the format of the file.

Below are a few steps you can follow to download the GST Registration Certificate easily from the official government GST portal/website https://gst.gov.in.

Steps:

1. On your computer, open a web browser and go to the website https://gst.gov.in. If you use a search engine such as Google or Bing, make sure to check the URL (site address) underneath the search title.

Note: Supported web browsers are Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari.

2. When on the portal/website, click the Login button on the top right of the site’s page. This will bring up the GST Login page on your screen.

3. Enter your login credentials and verify the Captcha code, then click the Login button to proceed.

Note: Your login credentials are the username and password which you created when registering for GST on the same portal.

4. Once logged in to the GST portal, you will be redirected to your Dashboard, from which you can avail various services related to GST.

5. Now, from the top menu, click Services, then select User Services from the sub-menu and click the View/Download Certificates option. Click the link with the icon that is displayed under the Download column. This will start the download of your GST Registration Certificate, namely Form GST REG-06 onto your computer (or if using a hand-held device with access to the Internet).

Note: Most web browsers will automatically save the downloaded file on your local drive. However, if you are prompted to manually open or save the file on your computer, you must confirm with a positive response.

All the available GST certificates that are issued to taxpayers by the authorities of the GST taxation department will be displayed here in descending order. The GST Certificate appears on the portal as Form GST REG-XX (‘XX’ represents a serial number) and is in PDF format.

Also, you will not be able to preview the contents in the GST Certificate before downloading, which can be viewed only when it is downloaded on your computer or device.

The GST Certificate can often come handy, so it is a good idea to keep a printed copy (or a few copies) of the certificate. The GST Certificate of Registration may be required during or after a new registration of GST, when amending the registration or when issuing to your customers and/or vendors/suppliers.
