For a long time, there has been a perception that following a diet that is vegetarian or gluten free, or anything outside the ‘norm’, is more difficult and requires many hours slaving away in the kitchen. Another common perception associated with alternative dietary regimes is that they are restrictive and sometimes such diets are considered to be bland/boring.
With more and more people are removing certain food groups from their diet or transitioning to a different dietary regime, there has been an increase in the number of individuals, groups and businesses that have stepped up to challenge the above listed misconceptions.
Take Healthy Luxe, for example. Healthy Luxe is an online nutrition platform run by a mother daughter duo, Jennifer Murrant and Hannah Singleton. The duo have set out on a mission to show people how satisfying, delicious and easy healthy eating can be. The girls have created a recipe app (called Healthy Luxe) that has a number of easy healthy vegetarian recipes, as well as gluten free vegetarian recipes, nut free recipes, vegan recipes… the list goes on. What makes these girls different is that they don’t follow one particular ‘diet’. This is because their health philosophy is that no two people have the exact same dietary requirements and therefore, they strive to provide as much diversity as possible. The only thing they won’t budge on is that all recipes must contain whole food and nutrient dense ingredients. So whether you’re looking at a seafood main meal or a vegan breakfast, you won’t find any refined sugars or ingredients containing preservatives/additives. Simplicity and flavour are also non-negotiable.
Some of the most popular easy healthy vegetarian recipes in the main meals category of Healthy Luxe app include the vegan matcha nachos, vegetarian lasagne, spicy tofu laksa and creamy vegan mushroom and sage pasta. In the dessert category, some of the Healthy Luxe signature recipes include raw vegan cheesecakes, nice cream bowls and chocolate fondant.
A feature of the app that makes it very user friendly is that upon downloading the app, you will be asked to enter your own personal dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian etc. You will then only see recipes that match your criteria. So, for example, if you select vegetarian and gluten free, you will see a selection of exclusively gluten free vegetarian recipes.
Launching in November 2019, Healthy Luxe will offer additional premium features to users that subscribe to the app. This will include a detailed nutritional panel for every recipe highlighting the macro/micro nutrient breakdown, how-to videos, ability to download recipes offline so you can access them at any time and the ability to create your own customised meal plan based on your health goals. For example, you can select recipes that are high in fibre, iron or protein and from there you will be presented with the best option for you. You then simply select the recipe you wish to make and add it to
your calendar. You can also add ingredients to your shopping cart, organised by recipe, which makes grocery shopping easy!
After trying a few signature Healthy Luxe dishes, we are confident you will see how delicious, easy and satisfying healthy eating can be.
