healthy weekend

Do you ever feel like you were made for the weekend? Like you can finally check out dating sites with no pressure? You’re not alone. After working hard and plowing through the week, most of us feel like we can finally roll downhill.

You may want to overindulge a little (or a lot) over the weekend, trying to make up for what you missed during the week. And sometimes, we make plans that leave us exhausted by Sunday night- right on time to start the following week. Sigh!

But, the cycle leads to a not-so-healthy weekend that’ll leave you feeling worse. And because, unfortunately, most of us never get to have a healthy weekend, what healthy weekend habits can you adopt to ensure you do better?

We’ve listed three of our favorites.

1.      Be A Smart Drinker To Start Your Healthy Weekend

If you are often in a click, it can be very tempting to type in “what is the best weekend getaway for a group of five” at 5 0’clock on a Friday evening. But remember, your quest for a healthy weekend begins on Friday. So if you’re planning to go out for a drink at the end of the week, plan to have smaller pegs than larger ones.

The more you drink, the more you’ll want to eat. And, you’re more likely to want to munch on fried and salty foods after. Also, order a new drink before you get your hands on your favorite tequila. For instance, if you gulp down red wine, have a beer instead.

You have more chances of having a healthy weekend if you nurse and take time finishing an unfamiliar drink rather than when you gulp down something you’re used to. The idea is to prevent yourself from having multiple rounds.

In the end, you’ll find yourself running after vivid dreams of a healthy weekend rather than living it.

2.      Stand Away From The Buffet

The key to a healthy weekend is moderation, so take small portions at a time. If you’re dining out with friends, sit next to one that shares similar goals for healthy weekend activities. They’ll help you stay the course and even give you some healthy weekend advice when you feel like you’ve hit a wall.

Before anyone else orders food, make sure you stay on track for a healthy weekend by ordering first. This way, you can order your healthy meal without the influence of other people’s orders. To make the best healthy weekend food choices, make sure your seat is as far away from the buffet as possible.

Serve yourself, then go to your seat and enjoy your meal. Chances of your healthy weekend plans going up in smoke are higher if you sit near the buffet table since you’re tempted to have more helpings.

3.      Set Aside Time For Chores

You’re going to have to do some chores over the weekend – some healthy weekend grocery shopping, laundry, or even cleaning. Whatever tasks you have to do, try not to do them all in a few hours. Think about your highest priority chores and then split them between Sunday and Saturday (or Friday night).

To ensure you have time to rest and recover for a healthy weekend:

  1. Don’t push yourself to get more done once you achieve one thing.
  2. Appreciate yourself for what you could do within a limited amount of time.
  3. For the ultimate healthy weekend of not doing many chores, try to spread your tasks over the week.

For instance, you could schedule vacuuming for Monday night and clean your bathroom on Tuesday night. This way, you won’t have a pile of chores waiting to bite into your healthy weekend.

Remember, doing chores around the house can help you move around and be active as well. Besides, all the stretching, bending, and reaching can count towards your healthy weekend exercise goals.

Conclusion

A healthy weekend begins with conscious thought and action to make healthy choices in everything you do. Even if you’re starting your journey to ensuring you have better control of your preferences, you can do it with patience and consistency.
