Air Conditioning Repair

Let’s admit, summer is the most loved season among all generations. In between cold showers and unlimited ice-creams, comes the scorching heat and its subsequent sweaty environment. It is this time of the year when your split air-conditioning system comes to rescue. In consequence of the high demand for repairing service, technicians are often less on time. To counteract such an unfortunate situation, you should already be well aware of the dos and don’ts.

What happens when you turn on your air conditioner after a whole of 6 months? Undoubtedly, your AC might be not working, leakage problem in the outdoor unit or the fan might be damaged. Today, we have listed some common split system air conditioner technical problems and their best solutions.

Problem 1: The Indoor Unit Is Not Blowing Cold Air

If the air conditioner’s airflow is warmer than the temperature setting, there lies an issue. To resolve this, you should first make sure that the thermostat is 5 degrees less than your normal room temperature. After which you are supposed to wait for a couple of minutes and see whether the indoor unit is blowing cold air.

If you don’t get positive results, turn off both indoor and outdoor units. Now clean the condenser and the evaporator thoroughly. Next, check whether a proper amount of air is passing through the coils, pipes, and condenser.

The major reason for this malfunction is the leakage of refrigerant that is easily visible through the naked eye. If you feel that nothing is working out, then you need to consult a professional service company for an inspection.

Problem 2: Thermostat Is Damaged

A thermostat is a crucial unit of the air conditioning system that is responsible for regulating the temperature according to your needs.

If the thermostat is faulty, it acts as a threat to the airflow’s temperature. To detect this problem, you have to find out if your system is producing unusual noise. For the starters, remove the cover of the unit and get rid of the dust and debris from suspected cables.

Problem 3: The Air Conditioner Fan Is Stuck

Sometimes, due to heavy usage and lack of maintenance, the blades of the fan get stuck. If the rotations are slow or are completely shut, the fan needs a repair. To get over this issue, you need to check the circuit breaker by first removing all the filters.

Another common reason for AC fan ineffective performance is the building up of ice in between the coils and pipes. When inadequate ice gets collected, the whole functioning of your air conditioner is obstructed. If this problem persists even after wiping off the ice, you need to seek professional help.

Problem 4: Mould In The Conditioning Systems

The formation of mould in electrical appliances with cooling properties is a common experience. This may result in improper functioning of the machine. The temperature inside the conditioning units keeps fluctuating in accordance with the outdoor temperature. As a result, fungus and moulds get enough time and degree temperature to grow inside the units. These moulds can also lead to various health problems and technical hazards.

To safely remove the moulds, all you have to do is wipe it up with a piece of cloth, scrubber or a sponge. For best results, soak it in a mixture of detergent and bleach.

The split system air conditioner works on multiple components to blow fresh and cold air. Regular care and maintenance will enhance the lifespan of your appliance. To avoid long term damages, a regular keep-up with the system through technicians with expertise in repairing services is a must.
